Access All Flavours: Wellington Access Radio launches recipe book celebrating culture and community

The Community Access Media Alliance (CAMA) is thrilled to celebrate the launch of Access All Flavours, a vibrant new recipe book from Wellington Access Radio that showcases the station’s diverse and multicultural community.

The launch event, held on April 15th, brought together content-makers, supporters, and local food enthusiasts for an evening of shared stories and culinary delights. Guests enjoyed drinks, nibbles, limited-edition tea towels, and dishes featured in the book, along with a keynote address from Beth Brash, Wellington On a Plate’s Festival Director.

With more than 40 recipes contributed by content makers, staff, board members, friends, and whānau, Access All Flavours spans continents and tastebuds—with dishes from Croatia to Fiji, Palestine to Kenya, and many cherished homelands in between. Each recipe is accompanied by personal stories, creating a powerful tribute to culture, identity, and connection.

Brigid O’Flaherty, former Milk Crate café owner and now Wellington Access Radio’s Community Outreach and Programming Lead, led the project, which is beautifully illustrated by local artist Pinky Johston.

“This project captures everything we love about community media – celebrating difference, amplifying underrepresented voices, and bringing people together,” says O’Flaherty.

The book is now on sale, and all proceeds will go towards new studio equipment for Wellington Access Radio’s content-makers. P
