CAMA sector shines at 2025 NZ Radio & Podcast Awards

The Community Access Media Alliance (CAMA) is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the sector’s content-makers, with multiple programmes and podcasts recognised as finalists at the 2025 New Zealand Radio and Podcast Awards.

These nominations are a powerful endorsement of the Community Access Media sector’s commitment to community-driven content, diversity of voice, and storytelling that matters.

Finalists in Best Access Radio Programme:

  • Conversations with Wāhine – Harita Gandhi-Kashyap, Aisling Waldron, Laura Trobiani, Eleonara Bello, Sophie Kelsall, Haley Blaylock – Wellington Access Radio
  • Everyday People – Camille Watkins – Arrow FM
  • Heritage Matters – Bill Southworth, Dougal Stevenson, Gregor Campbell, Judy Southworth, Sarah Gallagher, and Alison Breese  – Otago Access Radio

CAMA chair Phil Grey says the nominations reflect the strength, heart, diversity, and quality of the sector.

“It’s about local stories, inclusive voices, and platforms that empower everyday people to be broadcasters, creators, and changemakers.”

Community Access Media stations across Aotearoa support content in more than 50 languages and work closely with underrepresented communities. These nominations celebrate not just individual creators, but the collective impact of a media model driven by equity, access, and public value.

“We are thrilled to see our producers and stations recognised at this national level,” Grey adds. 

“It speaks volumes about the talent within our communities, and the vital role Community Access Media plays in Aotearoa’s media ecosystem.”
